Aimee George, M.Ed., PLPC

Hi! My name is Aimee (she/her/hers) and I am happy you’re here. I am a contract therapist providing individual therapy services to adolescents and adults at The Oak Center.

In the words of Carl Rogers, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” Acceptance is an essential component of change. I will accept you just as you are and help you learn to fully accept yourself. Together, through a mindfulness approach, we will begin to work towards the life you desire. We will explore your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations to gain self-awareness. I will assist in helping you track and modify behaviors that you have the desire to change.

My passion for helping others started through my work as an elementary teacher. I’ve worked with children and their families over the last ten years.I have experience implementing CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and I am DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) informed. I have experience working with mood disorders, chronic self-harm, suicidal ideation, personality disorders, adjustment disorders, and anxiety disorders.

I have specific interest working with people who have histories of anxiety and mood disorders, and young adults struggling with self-identity. I consider the social and cultural context in my approach to therapy. We will discuss your background, explore your values, and the experiences that have shaped your life.

As a provisionally licensed counselor (PLPC) I am currently being supervised by Amber McCartney, LPC.
