The Oak Center is committed to making comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) more accessible to individuals in our community. People often have questions about how long the wait is, who is accepting clients, and the cost of services. Our intention is for the information below to provide up-to-date information and clarification about how best to access our services.
Before submitting an application to be added to our waitlist, please consider which clinician type would be the best fit for you.
Provisionally Licensed Therapist
If you are here to refer someone other than yourself or your minor child, please do so through our Third-Party Referral.
Clinician Type: Student Clinician
At this time, students at The Oak Center are enrolled in the Master’s of Education in Counseling program through Stephens College. They are completing their internship or practicum with The Oak Center and are closely supervised by a fully licensed therapist at The Oak Center. As a requirement of their program, therapy sessions are audio or video recorded and reviewed only by their direct supervisor at The Oak Center and their program director at Stephen’s College.

Self-Pay Rate: $60/session
Estimated wait time: immediate openings
Applying to work with a student will also automatically add you to the waitlist for a provisionally or fully licensed therapist.
Clinician Type: Provisionally Licensed Therapist (LMSW or PLPC)
A provisionally licensed therapist has graduated from a Master’s level program and is under the supervision of a fully licensed therapist at The Oak Center. It generally takes about two years before a provisionally licensed therapist is able to apply with the state to become fully licensed.
Insurances Accepted:
Medicaid (MO HealthNet, Home State Health, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan)
Blue Cross Blue Shield (when billed under their supervising therapist)
Self-Pay Rate: $115/session
Estimated wait time: immediate openings (dependent on insurance type)
Applying to work with a provisionally licensed therapist will also automatically add you to the waitlist for a fully licensed therapist.
Clinician Type: Fully Licensed Therapist (LCSW or LPC)
A fully licensed therapist has undergone rigorous training, supervision and passed standardized tests prior to obtaining their licensure status. Currently, two of our fully licensed therapists are also a DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician™.

Self-Pay Rate: $150-$170/session
Estimated wait time: 6-12 months
Applying to work with a fully licensed therapist will exclude your application from the student or provisionally licensed waitlist and may prolong your wait time.
At this time, our waitlist for both adolescents and adults is at capacity and we are not able to make any additions. Those with a previously accepted application are still on the waitlist, as we continue to provide full-mode, comprehensive DBT programs for both adults and adolescents.
