Nancy Wright
Welcome! I’m Nancy Wright (she/her/hers): A sapling therapist here at The Oak Center for DBT and Counseling Services, (TOC). I enjoy helping people embrace honesty, vulnerability, and integrity, even when it’s difficult. As I work collaboratively with my clients, we will seek truth, authenticity and healing. I strive to provide clients with a safe and comfortable environment by practicing “radical genuineness”.
My Bachelor’s Degree, from Grand Canyon University, is in Behavioral Health: Family Dynamics. As a graduate student at Stephens College I am due to receive my Masters Degree as a Licensed Professional Therapist, (LPC) in December 2025.
Although I spent 20 years in Arizona, I am a Columbia native. In 2020, my children and I moved “back” to Missouri to be closer to family and deepen our community connections.
At TOC, I offer comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), with a special focus on supporting parents of TOC clients. I also have training in Sand Tray Therapy.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I was an award-winning, women’s sexual health educator, for over 20 years. I have a passion for helping people understand and become comfortable with their sexuality and gender.
Beyond my work at TOC, I am deeply involved in advocacy and volunteerism. I volunteer at The Center Project, mid-Missouri’s LGBTQIA+ community center, and have previously worked with The Trevor Project, a crisis intervention and suicide prevention service for LGBTQIA+ youth. Additionally, I have raised funds and walked (in the rain!) for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Outside of work, I love learning, traveling, water sports, and sunshine. Finally, I am a dedicated planner who enjoys spending time with my big, loving family, my partner, my parents, lots of kids, two dogs, a cat, and some amazing friends.
