Hi! My name is Christy Fleeman (she/her) and I have over 25 years of experience in the counseling field working with adults, adolescents, children, families, and couples in the areas of depression, anxiety, bipolar, abuse, suicidal ideations, self-harm, trauma, substance abuse, behavioral issues, divorce, and additional mental health and life challenges. I have offered Dialectical Behavior Therapy for over 15 years. My strategies are based integrating counseling modalities that best meet your needs as we navigate the challenges and struggles of life and create a fulfilling life. I strive to provide a relaxed atmosphere to assist you with feeling at ease while addressing life’s most intricate matters. Compassion and confidentiality are the cornerstone of my practice. My focus tends to be goal oriented while allowing time for a personal style and rapport building. I believe that everyone has their own needs and faces their own challenges. We will work together to find an approach that is comfortable for you and ensures your goals are met!

I provide virtual only individual therapy sessions as I am not located in or near Columbia though group therapy sessions are offered through both in person and virtual means. To lessen life’s obstacles, I offer daytime and evening hours. I will work with you to make sessions fit your lifestyle as best I can by trying to be flexible with busy parenting, traveling, sporting, and other evening activities.

*I use a variety of evidence-based treatments, including:

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy Prolonged Exposure (DBT PE)

  • Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

*I cofacilitate an 8 week parenting class, Your Parent Compass, held various times throughout the year.

*I am also able to provide licensure supervision to those working on their Missouri State Licensure to become a Licensed Professional Counselor.
